Sally's Hill
2009 Sally’s Hill Chardonnay
Pale straw colour with hint of pale green. Fresh lifted aroma of citrus, lime with some peachy wood background notes. Fresh creamy palate with peach and mild tropical fruit flavours. Mouth filling and balanced. Some very subtle wood background. Light lime notes. Lifted finish showing long balanced clean aftertaste. A very lovely Pyrenees wine style which should develop beautifully in the bottle for 2 to 3 years.
2009 Sally’s Hill Pinot Noir
Rather full, bright, Ruby colour. The aromas of violets and dried flowers dominate fresh, slightly earthy notes showing the extended wood maturation in Puncheons. The fresh lively flavours also taste of concentrated fruit. This Pinot has a sophisticated middle palate which is intense in flavour, yet elegant, warm and silky in style. The lifted end flavours and rounded tannins showing in the medium length finish give an overall impression of balance to this excellent Pyrenees Pinot style. May keep well in the long term, but I recommend drinking in the next couple of years.
2008 Sally’s Hill Shiraz
Has a beautiful deep violet colour. The aroma of lovely Pyrenees varietal Shiraz character is dominant, showing freshness and fruit. Aromas of wild cherry, violets, licorice and oak are also evident. This full bodied wine has a rich and intense middle palate, yet at the same time is velvety and approachable. Flavours including black cherry, plums, white pepper and some spice are married with wood maturation to create a complete and balanced wine with a lingering, lifted, savoury finish. This wine has enormous potential to improve in the bottle but is soft and delightful enough to drink now with great enjoyment as an accompaniment to steak, pasta, or almost anything.
2006 Sally’s Hill Cabernet
Great Ruby/Garnet Colour. Cabernet grape aromas with overtones of vanilla, dark chocolate, cherry liqueur and red cherry. Very well developed, barrel aged, soft, restrained Cabernet characters, light oak background, fruit flavours like morello cherries, after taste of dark cherries and blackberries with a touch of vanilla. Intense and dense brambly mid palate, great depth, intense tight Cabernet grape flavours, beautifully balanced, nice lengthy tannins. Delicious liqueured finish married to integrated soft tannins and mild new French oak. Good cellaring potential.
